Billie Joe Armstrong and his son Jakob have shared a new cover of David Bowie's hit, 'Heroes'.

Jakob, son of the Green Day singer, features on this cover, which is available on streaming services now, featuring a close replica of Robert Fripp's strong guitar tone from the original 1977 track, with Armstrong junior taking the lead on the vocals.

Previous, Jakob had recorded his own music as far back as 2015 under the name, Jakob Danger, who was also a bandmember pf he band, Ultra Q.

Check out the pair's cover of 'Heroes' below.

The release of this cover comes as Billie Joe Armstrong pledged his support to communities in Minnesota following a wave of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.

The Green Day singer used the band's show in Los Angeles on January 17, to once again share his opposition to the immigration agenda of the Donald Trump administration. Armstrong, who has been a long time critic of Trump, changed the lyrics of the band's 2004 protest song, American Idiot: “I’m not part of the redneck agenda” with “I’m not part of the MAGA agenda".

In another dig at Trump, Green Day played their song 'Holiday', which Armstrong introduced as . “This song is anti-fascist. This song is anti-war. We stand up for our brothers and sisters in Minnesota,”. Check this out and Nova's report here.

In other news, it was also confirmed by the NFL that Green Day would open Super Bowl 60, with a huge headline performance at the game's opening ceremony at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. This will take place on February 8.

“We are super hyped to open Super Bowl 60 right in our backyard! We are honoured to welcome the MVPs who’ve shaped the game and open the night for fans all over the world. Let’s have fun! Let’s get loud!", Armstrong said in a statement.
