Neil Young has delivered a powerful new version of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’, with a Hendrix style instrumental, including the message ‘Stand For Peace’.

The video which you can check out below, includes the final texts ‘Stand For Peace’, and ‘Be Brave’.

While there are no further details, explaining why Young released this video, the reference to peace would appear to be a musical comment on the horrors in Gaza and Israel.

“Stand for Peace’ was directed by Daryl Hannah, produced by Gary Ward for Lost Planet, edited by Rachel Simmer with audio produced by ‘The Volume Dealers’- Niko Bolas and Neil Young. Special thanks to our great crew: Bob Rice, music equipment, Frank Gironda – manager, Bonnie Levetin, Tim Bruegger – Lookout Management. Le mobile remote recording”, a statement read on Young’s website.

Neil Young Leaves X/Twitter

This release comes just a week after Neil Young confirmed that he had left X, formerly known as Twitter.

The singer has left the platform, amid comments which were made by its owner Elon Musk, which have been condemned as offensive.

The owner has been accused of anti-Semitism, having stated that “Jewish communities” had been advancing “hatred against whites”.

“We are stopping all use of X that we can control”, Young wrote on his Archives Site. “For reasons that should be obvious to the richest man on Earth, we are taking this action against his company”.

Young also follows on from Apple and Disney who have left X, in light of these comments.
