The Longshot, Billie Joe Armstrong’s new project, have released an official video and have launched a new album.  The surprise release of their debut record as well as a video for the lead single, ‘Love Is For Losers’, is available for your ears and eyes below.

Armstrong has returned to his DIY punk roots for this new band while Green Day are on current hiatus following 2016’s Revolution Radio. The Longshot also features Green Day touring guitarist Jeff Matika on bass and vocals, as well as Kevin Preston on guitar and David S. Field on drums. The band released live videos of several songs last week.

Green Day are also reported to be completing a movie adaptation of their now fabled comeback album ‘American Idiot‘. Speaking to the NME in 2016 Armstrong said progress is well underway with the film. The singer claims HBO were behind the project and that he’d be revisiting his own Broadway role as the character of St. Jimmy.

According to Armstrong,  ‘That’s the plan right now, yeah. We’ve got a green light from HBO, and the script is currently going through a couple of rewrites here and there, so I’m not sure when exactly we’re going to start shooting, but it’s definitely all systems go at the moment.

Green Day have also just announced a UK tour for the musical of ‘American Idiot’, to celebrate the album’s 10th anniversary. Tickets are available here.

And finally, this weekend Radio Nova is making radio history. Nova is the first Irish radio station to team up with Shazam, the world’s leading music discovery app and they’re giving listeners a chance to win tickets to the Rolling Stones.
