The first list of acts has been announced for the 25th Meltdown Festival 2018 which is being curated this year by The Cure frontman Robert Smith.

The UK’s Meltdown festival has been curated by some big names in music. Past festivals have seen the likes of Nick Cave, Patti Smith, David Byrne, David Bowie and Jarvis Cocker take charge of arranging the line up.

This year Robert Smith has been given the responsibility of naming the acts and it’s pretty mindblowing.

The Deftones, The Libertines, Manic Street Preachers, Mogwai, Nine Inch Nails, Placebo, Alcest,The Psychedelic Furs, My Bloody Valentine, 65daysofstatic, The Anchoress, Kristin Hersh, Kathryn Joseph, MONO, and The Notwist have all been announced today for the 25th edition of the iconic music festival.

Following the announcement, Smith had this to say.

‘As each invitee confirms, as each shimmering piece falls into place, I pinch myself this is really happening and the complete picture will undoubtedly be out of this world!’

Smith is also set to play a massive show with his band The Cure in Hyde Park this summer. The ocassion will mark 40 years since the release of their first single. They’ll be playing alongside Interpol, Editors and others.
