On Instagram, Culkin shared this moving tribute to her.
"Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you but I had so much more to say. I love you. I’ll see you later", Culkin wrote.
In Home Alone, Culkin played young boy Kevin McCallister, who faces two bumbling burglars (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern), after his family go on holiday without him. O'Hara played Kevin's mother in the film.
Culkin later returned to his roles as Kevin McCallister in Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, which also starred O'Hara.
Others to pay tribute included actor and comedian Seth Rogan, who worked alongside O'Hara in the award winning Apple series, The Studio.
"Really don't know what to say…" Rogen wrote. "I told O'Hara when I first met her I thought she was the funniest person I'd ever had the pleasure of watching on screen. Home Alone was the movie that made me want to make movies. Getting to work with her was a true honour".
"She was hysterical, kind, intuitive, generous… she made me want to make our show good enough to be worthy of her presence in it", he added. "This is just devastating. We're all lucky we got to live in a world with her in it".
Pedro Pascal who starred alongside O'Hara in the second season of HBO's, The Last Of Us added this.
"Oh, genius to be near you. Eternally grateful. There is less light in my world, this lucky world that had you, will keep you, always. Always", he said. "The one and ONLY Catherine O'Hara', accompanying the words with a sweet snap of the two of them embracing".
Other stars to pay homage to Catherine O'Hara include her Beetlejuice co star, Michael Keaton.
"We go back before the first Beetlejuice", he said. "She’s been my pretend wife, my pretend nemesis and my real life, true friend".
"This one hurts. Man am I gonna miss her".
Justin Theroux also paid tribute to O'Hara on social media, having starred alongside the Emmy award winner in the 2024 film, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. He shared a photo of her chair on set with her name on it, adding that she will be "so missed".
Rita Wilson said that O'Hara was "authentic and truthful in all she did".
"You saw it in her work, if you knew her you saw it in her life, and you saw it in her family. Bo, Luke and Matthew, our deepest sympathies,' she wrote. 'May Catherine rest in peace. May her memory be eternal".
Catherine O'Hara was survived by her husband, Bo Welch, and children Matthew and Luke.
