Man, 30s, Arrested After Dublin City Centre Assault

A man in his 30s has been arrested after another man was left in a critical condition following an assault in Dublin city centre.

The incident happened on Foley Street at around 11.40pm on Monday night.

The injured man, also aged in his 30s, was taken to the Mater Hospital in the early hours of Tuesday morning where he remains in a critical condition with serious injuries.

A man in his 30s has since been arrested in connection with the assault and is being held at a Garda station in Dublin under investigation.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information to come forward.

They are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was in the Foley Street, Talbot Street or James Joyce Street areas between 11.30pm on Monday 6 July and 2am on Tuesday 7 July.

Anyone with camera footage from the area, including dash-cam footage, is asked to contact Gardaí.

Information can be provided to Store Street Garda Station on 01 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or by contacting any Garda station.

Gardaí said investigations into the assault are ongoing.
