A man has been arrested after Revenue officers seized more than €296,000 worth of herbal cannabis during an operation at Dublin Port.
The seizure took place on Halloween, when Revenue officers, acting on routine profiling procedures, stopped and searched a vehicle that had recently arrived in Ireland from France.
During the search, officers discovered approximately 21.2 kilograms of herbal cannabis concealed within the vehicle.

The illicit drugs have an estimated street value of more than €296,000.
Following the discovery, the driver of the vehicle was arrested by Gardaí attached to Store Street Garda Station. He is currently being held as investigations continue into the suspected drug importation operation.
Revenue said the seizure forms part of its ongoing efforts, conducted in cooperation with An Garda Síochána, to combat organised crime groups involved in the importation, sale and distribution of illegal drugs throughout Ireland.

Investigators are now working to determine the origin, intended destination and criminal networks linked to the shipment.
Revenue continues to encourage businesses and members of the public to report any information relating to drug smuggling or illegal drug activity.
Information can be provided confidentially through the Revenue confidential hotline on 1800 295 295.
The seizure highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to disrupt drug trafficking operations and prevent illegal substances from entering communities across Ireland.
