It has been confirmed that the character of Mark Ronson will not feature in the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic ‘Back To Black’.

This comes after Canadian actor Jeff Tunke said in an interview with The Daily Mail that scenes he filmed as Ronson were cut from the final movie, which has also led to his credits being removed from the film and IMDb.

Mark Ronson was a close friend and collaborator of Amy Winehouse, having produced her Grammy Award winning album ‘Back To Black’.

The character has been reportedly removed, despite the producer’s key role in the Winehouse’s 2006 album of the same name.

“do not exist”

Following this, Sam Taylor-Johnson the film’s director, has responded via a spokesperson.

“The character of Mark Ronson has never appeared on screen in the film, so it would not have been possible to ‘cut all the scenes’ involving Mark Ronson as they do not exist”, Taylor-Johnson said.

Previously, Mark Ronson revealed that he had read the film’s script.

“The only thing I know about the film is I know Sam quite well, and I read the script and I feel what it did really nicely was… I was reminded of [Winehouse’s] humor and it really caught that well”, Ronson said.

“I think she just had this whip-smart razor sense of humor which is one of her many gifts and they got that very nice in the film. I’m looking forward to seeing it”.

‘Back To Black’ will be released in the UK and Ireland on April 12 this year.

The film will see Marisa Abela star as Amy Winehouse, with Jack O’Connell playing the role of the singer’s ex husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

It will also feature music from Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, with a photo of the pair working in a studio already shared online. More on that from Nova here.
