Michael McDonald To Release Memoir Next Year

Michael McDonald has confirmed the arrival of his memoir, ‘What A Fool Believes: A Memoir’.

Arriving on 21 May 2024 via Dey Street Books, the memoir will include stories from McDonald’s career, featuring stories about Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, Carly Simon, and James Taylor.

‘What A Fool Believes: A Memoir’, was also co written by McDonald’s friend Paul Reiser, an actor renowned for ‘Stranger Things’, and ‘Mad About You’ among others.

As for McDonald himself, the American singer/songwriter has been touring with the Doobie Brothers, as well as to lending his vocals to tracks such as ‘I Keep Forgettin’. 

He has also contributed to several singles, including Kenny Loggins & Thundercat’s collaboration ‘Show You The Way’. 

Tom Johnston Leaves Doobie Brothers Tour

Back in May, it was confirmed that Tom Johnston, a Doobie Brothers bandmate of Michael McDonald, left the band’s 50th Anniversary tour due to a back issue.

Confirming this news in a press release, Johnston said that he hoped for a  “for a speedy recovery”, but was told by doctors that he “should not be performing at this time”. 

“I hope for a speedy recovery and can’t wait to get back on the road and continue doing what I love”, Johnston said in a statement.

“I would like to thank Pat, Michael, John and the entire Doobie Brothers band for covering for me while I recover from back surgery. … I’m sure they will bring it every night as they always do”.
