Train services into and out of Heuston Station in Dublin have been suspended this morning with thousands of commuters expected to be affected.
A major signal fault occurred at 6 am and is ongoing.
The issue is impacting all intercity, Portlaoise Commuter and Newbridge/Hazelhatch to Grand Canal Dock services – a number of routes are moving with a manual signalling system.
Iarnroid Eireann says it’s not possible to provide alternative transport for commuters due to the number of people affected.
Spokesperson is Jane Cregan:
“We’re just advising customers to seek alternatives or not to come to the station this morning – we are not in a position to provide a bus transfer to people who are impacted… I can’t remember the last time we would have had this severe a signal fault.”
