Noel Gallagher is currently "writing songs for fun", according to Johnny Marr.
Marr made these comments while speaking in a recent interview with Absolute Radio, where he was asked if his friend and collaborator was working on anything recently.
“Yeah, I see him all the time,” Marr said. “[He’s the] same as always, brilliant. He’s writing songs for fun, recording songs, enjoying himself, sending me hilarious WhatsApp’s — usually about Manchester United and lots and lots of effects pedals. [That] is the way our relationship has gone for 30 odd years now".
While Marr did not elaborate any further on this, this would coincide with comments Gallagher had made back in February where he said that he was "in the studio" working on new music.
Gallagher did not specify whether he meant that he was working on new Oasis music or solo material with the High Flying Birds.
“I’m in the studio now, but I better put something out,” Gallagher told talkSport. “I’ve been shamed". More on this from Nova here.
He then confirmed that he was in the recording studio working on new music back in April.
At the time, both Noel and his brother Liam were reportedly open to future collaborations, leading fans to speculate that a new stadium tour—and possibly new music—could be on the horizon. Watch this space. More here.
Earlier this month, Liam Gallagher did dismiss rumours that Oasis could return to play live at Glastonbury next year, insisting that it was "not happening".
This comes after the X account, Oasis Mania, wrote: “According to The Scotsman, Oasis are among the favourites to headline Glastonbury 2027, with odds of 4/1. Could we see them return to the Pyramid Stage?”.
Gallagher replied: "It’s not HAPPENING so all you croc wearing flag waving [expletive] can calm the [expletive] down".
