Ozzy Osbourne was warned by doctors that he might not survive his final live performance before his death on July 22, his wife Sharon Osbourne has revealed in a deeply personal interview.

In a forthcoming episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, Sharon spoke candidly about the health struggles the rock legend faced in the months leading up to his farewell concert in Birmingham on July 5, just days before his passing. According to Sharon, medical professionals had expressed serious concerns about Ozzy’s ability to cope with the physical demands of the show.

Sharon told Piers Morgan that his medical team had been clear: if Ozzy went ahead with the performance, there was a real risk he would not come through it. Despite that warning, she said Ozzy was determined to go on stage.

“Very much so, because he’d been so ill this year, terribly, terribly ill,” Sharon said. “And when we came to England and we were meeting with new doctors here, a new medical team for him, the main doctor said to him, ‘If you do this show, that’s it. You’re not going to get through it.’ But we just sat there, and he said, I’m doing it. I want to do it, and I’m doing it.”

Sharon described Ozzy as fully aware that his body was struggling. He had endured repeated health setbacks over the year, including three bouts of pneumonia and a serious infection that led to sepsis. She explained that the heavy course of antibiotics he was on, while necessary, took a toll on him.

“He knew his body was failing him. He was in so much pain, so much pain… That’s what really, really destroyed him,” Sharon said. “He was on these shots of antibiotics… it kills everything in you, the good, the bad, everything, so much antibiotics, and he just couldn’t get over that. He just couldn’t.”

At the farewell concert, Ozzy performed seated on a specially made throne because he was no longer physically able to stand for long. When asked how he found the strength to take the stage, Sharon said his motivation came from gratitude.

“He just wanted it so bad to say thank you to everyone. And I think he honestly did know that… that was his time,” she said. Sharon said that after the show, Ozzy was genuinely happy and touched by the response. He told her he was overwhelmed by how many people cared for him.

“He goes to me, ‘I never knew so many people liked me,’” she recalled. Sharon said that for the two weeks following the Birmingham show, Ozzy was in high spirits, happier than she had seen him in years — enjoying each day and the love his fans continued to show.

The interview marks one of the most open discussions yet about Ozzy’s final months, offering a glimpse into the difficult choices he and his family faced as his health declined. Through it all, Sharon’s account paints a picture of a man who wanted to honour his fans and conclude his remarkable career on his own terms.
