Pearl Jam Share An Update On Their New Album

Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament was speaking in a recent interview with the station, The Trail in Montana. The bass player gave an update on the band’s new record. He said it is only halfway finished with ‘a lot’ of work still remaining but expressed hopes that the band will get back to work on the record in the very near future.

Speaking on the show Ament said, “Yeah, we are smack dab in the middle. We have a lot of work to do. Once we get these shows done, we will probably get back at it. I hope.” He was also asked if the band ever come out to his home to work on new material. “Occasionally yeah, those guys come out.”, he replied. Pearl Jam are expected to have a new record dropped in 2019. Their last record Lightning Bolt. was dropped back in 2013.

Chris Cornell

Meanwhile, Mike McCready fondly remembered Chris Cornell in an interview with KEXP and discussed how Cornell wanted to mess with his record label at the time. The Pearl Jam and Temple of the Dog guitarist Mike McCready was reacting to “Reach Down” after the song was played on the radio.“Chris wrote that song, and I heard the demo of it, and I was lucky enough to play on it. I remember his reasoning for having a song that long was, ‘I want to send this song to the label, and this will be the first single.’ Knowing that that’s funny because it’s a super long song. I was just so honoured to be part of it. Thanks Chris for letting me play on that.”

McCready opened up about Pearl Jam’s upcoming Hometown Gigs at Safeco Field in Seattle set to kick off next week, and raising awareness for homelessness, in a new Seattle Times interview. “I grew up here and I’ve never seen anything like this — none of us have,” McCready says. “So what do you do? Do you just sit around and go, ‘That’s just how it is?’ Or do you dig in and hopefully have organizations compromise or get together, figure out some sort of solution or long-term plan. … We don’t know what the solution is, but we want to be part of some of it.”
