Several rediscovered cassette tapes showing recordings of The Beatles from 1966, are to be auctioned.

There are three recordings overall, and they were made on Ringo Starr’s personal tape recorder, including clips of the Fab Four’s tour of Germany, Japan, and the Philippines.

These previously unearthed Beatles recordings are expected to fetch for between £10,000 and £15,000 under the hammer, at Omega Auctions.

Among these recordings, includes a tape showing the band discussing the importance of their iconic short and snappy song structures.

On another tape recording, the band’s manager Brian Epstein can be heard speaking about how to import valuable goods from Japan to the UK, without having to pay high import taxes.

The tapes also include a demo of the Beatle’s single ‘Don’t Pass Me By’, with Ringo Starr on piano.

Another soundbite is taken from the band’s first trip to India, where they begin to experiment with traditional instruments.

This auction will also be selling a signed LP, film footage from the group in 1964, and photo negatives from the photographer Monte Fresco.

“a remarkable discovery”

Speaking about these tapes, Omega Auctions manager Dan Musatelli-Hampson had this to say.

“These tapes are truly a remarkable discovery”, he stated.

The manager continued, “Hours of previously unheard material from such a pivotal period will be of huge interest to Beatles experts, fans and collectors and the fact that they were made by Ringo himself and contain such intimate scenes with the band from the tour is just incredible”.

“Not only do we have Ringo figuring out Don’t Pass Me By at the piano, we also may well have the Fab Four experimenting with Indian classical instruments for the first time as well as simply messing around and having a laugh during what was a famously difficult tour. They have to be heard to be believed”.

The tapes had not been previously published, with Omega Auctions adding that the original owner of this content had only recently investigated them, after buying them several years ago.

This items will be sold in the Omega Auctions’ Beatles Collection sale on March 26.

News of this comes just weeks after it was also confirmed that Sam Mendes would direct a biopic on each member of the Beatles. Find out more on this from Nova here.
