A new set of coins, inspired by Dennis the Menace are to be minted, marking the 75th anniversary of the iconic comic prankster.
These coins are being made in collaboration with Royal Mint and Beano, which will see Dennis and his beloved dog Gnasher feature on special collectable 50p coins. They will be printed in vibrant colour printing, with Dennis' iconic red and black jumper popping next to an engraving reading: '75 Years of Dennis'.
Speaking about the collaboration, Royal Mint's Rebecca Morgan said there is "something wonderfully fitting about this legendary mischief-maker finally making his mark".
She added: "I'm sure Dennis himself would see it as his greatest prank yet".
Elsewhere, Rob Glenny from Beano, said that this commemorative coin, "captures the unmistakable spark that has kept Dennis at the heart of childhood for generations". The coins will be available to buy from the Royal Mint's website from today. They will start from £15.
Dennis the Menace made his first appearance in issue 452 of the Beano on 17 March 1951, before going on to appear on the BBC, ITV and in video games. He and Gnasher were also the mascots for Beanoland in Chessington World of Adventures from 1999 to 2010.
From next week (February 26), visitors to the Royal Mint Experience, which is based in Llantrisant, South Wales, will also be able to mint their own Dennis the Menace coin.
