‘Touring’ garden leave anyway..

Soundgarden plans to take a break from touring after the band completes its upcoming European trek, which begins on September 4th in Helsinki, Finland, calling to Dublin on the 16th to play the O2 and ends on the 19th of that month in London. According to Blabbermouth, guitarist Kim Thayil told a Seattle radio station,

“I think (after the European tour) that will be it for a while. I know that Matt (Cameron, drums) is going to be touring with Pearl Jam and I think Chris (Cornell, vocals) is going to be working on a solo acoustic record and he might be playing some shows during that.”

Thayil added that he will be “working on compiling the Soundgarden B-sides box, (for) which we have a lot of songs that were released on European and Australian releases, movie soundtracks, various things like that that have yet to be compiled and put into album form.”

The Soundgarden B-sides collection has been wanted by fans since even before the group broke up in 1997 due to the large amount of material available.

Soundgarden reunited in 2010 after a 13-year hiatus and released a new studio album, King Animal, in November 2012.
