A special concert paying tribute to the songwriting of Elton John and Bernie Taupin will take place next month.

The concert will take place in Washington D.C, and will see the duo presented with the Library Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, at an event which will honour their influence and legacy in music.

A star studded line up has also been announced for this event, including Metallica, Annie Lennox, Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, John Fogerty, and Garth Brooks among others.

In a statement, Metallica confirmed that they would be performing at this special event paying tribute to Elton John and Bernie Taupin.

“Elton and Bernie have been collaborating for 56 years and counting, and together, they have penned some of our lifetime’s most memorable and influential songs. We are thrilled to celebrate this honor with them, and we look forward to an incredible evening of unique performances from their remarkable collection of songs”, the band wrote.

Elton John Working On New Music

Earlier this month, it emerged that Elton John was reportedly working on a “secret” new album, which could arrive later this year.

Despite finishing off his farewell tour a few months ago, Elton John is still very much a creative force when it comes to making new music.

“It’s all been very top secret but Elton is back in the studio working on a new album”, a source told The Sun newspaper.

“He adores music and that will never change but the desire to be as busy as he was has waned”.
