A status yellow rainfall warning has been issued for Munster and Leinster.
Met Eireann says heavy rain can be expected in these areas from later this afternoon.
Met Eireann says heavy rain will spread from the South of the country this afternoon and into this evening, with up to 25mm to 35mm forecast.
It’s expected that heavy spell of rain will continue into tonight and the early hours of tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, there could be another band of heavy showers approaching the country this weekend.
The rainfall warning is in place from 3 o’ clock this afternoon until 6 o clock tomorrow morning.
