Succession & The Bear Big Winners At Emmy Awards

Succession and The Bear proved to be the big winners at this year’s Emmy Awards ceremony, sharing a dozen accolades between them on the night.

Succession, whose final episode aired last May, won awards for Best Drama Series, while star Sarah Snook took the award for Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

It was also a joyous night for Kieran Culkin, who came out on top in the Lead Actor in a Drama Series category.

“this is where it gets you”

Receiving her award, Sarah Snook who prevailed ahead of Irish nominee Sharon Horgan in the same category made this speech.

“Thank you to my mum and dad and thank you for having a dress-up box as a kid, I think this is where it gets you”, Snook said.

She continued, “The biggest thank you I think though is to someone who won’t understand anything that I’m saying at the moment, but I carried her with me in this last season and really it was her who carried me.

“It’s very easy to act when you’re pregnant because you’ve got hormones raging and it was more that the proximity of her life growing inside me gave me the strength to do this and this performance. I love you so much and it’s all for you from here on out”. 

Succession also came out on top in the Best Supporting Actor category, thanks to Matthew Macfadyen.

Succession were matched award for award on the night, with The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White won landed the award for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Other success included a Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy for Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Ayo Edebiri triumphing in the Lead Actress in a Comedy category.

“I love this show so much, it filled me up,” Jeremy Allen-White said, when accepting his award.

“Thank you to all those who have stayed close to me, especially in the last year. Thank you for believing in me when I had trouble believing in myself”. 

Other big winners also included Beef, who won five Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, with Steven Yeun and Ali Wong winning awards for Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in a Limited Series respectively.

The White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge also picked up an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Music legend Elton John also landed an award on the night for his live stream Elton Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium, which won Best Variety Special on the night.
