The Cure's hit, 'Boys Don't Cry' had reached one billion streams on Spotify, as the band announced a set of limited edition EP reissues to mark the occasion.
Having been released in 1979, the track was the title track for the Cure's debut album in the US, before going on to become one of their signature hits.
Now, 'Boys Don't Cry' has become their first song to hit the one billion stream mark on Spotify.
This comes amid an announcement that The Cure are to release a limited-edition EP, which includes a version of the song which frontman Robert Smith re-recorded in 1986 for their compilation album, 'Staring At The Sea - The Singles' compilation album, which was never previously released digitally.
The EP is to be available on 12" vinyl, 7" vinyl, CD and on digital formats, and will include remasters of the track's B-sides, ‘Plastic Passion’, ‘Pillbox Tales’ and ‘Do The Hansa’, as well as the extended 12” mix of ‘Boys Don’t Cry’. You can pre order this special limited edition collection here.

Last November, The Cure also announced details of their upcoming concert movie, 'The Show of a Lost World', capturing their full live performance of their 2024 album Songs of a Lost World. The film hit cinema screens last December. It was directed by Nick Wickham, and was described as a “recut, remixed and 4K remastered film of that night’s full 31-song show.
