The Cure's Robert Smith slams Chris Martin's World Cup halftime show.
It has been confirmed that there will be a half time show, lasting about 25 minutes for the World Cup final.
Fifa has stated that musicians such as Madonna, Shakira and Justin Bieber will perform at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
Coldplay's front man has curated the half time show for the first time in history.
Smith has been open about his opinion on the decision to have a half time show. The Cure's frontman posted a blunt response to the news on The Cure's official Instagram.
His caption read: "The half-time show, which has been curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin, will feature Madonna, Justin Bieber, Shakira and the K‑pop boyband BTS. Fifa’s president, Gianni Infantosser, has described the half-time show as “groundbreaking spectacle” that will “celebrate football, music and our shared values, ensuring a legacy that transcends the final whistle”

Smith did, however, take to the comments to clarify that it isn't about Chris Martin or anyone else taking part in the show, but the idea of a World Cup final show itself.

The halftime show will be the first in the history of the FIFA World Cup, taking inspiration from the Super Bowl. FIFA have confirmed that the show will support FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise money to expand access to football and education for children all around the world.
