Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have been spotted filming the fourth Mummy film, with a second set of behind-the-scenes pictures offering fans another look at the returning stars and their long-awaited reunion.

The Oscar winners are back as adventurer Rick O’Connell and Egyptologist Evelyn O’Connell for the upcoming sequel, with the latest images providing a closer look at the set and the two protagonists in character.

The new pictures follow the first batch released last week, which showed Fraser filming in Suffolk, England, behind the wheel of a vintage silver-and-red rocket car marked EPSA. The scene appeared to involve a 1957 speed trials sequence.

Meanwhile, Weisz was photographed outside London's British Museum, dressed in vintage clothing.

The latest glimpse of the production gives fans more reason to look forward to seeing the pair back together, having last appeared alongside each other in 2001's The Mummy Returns.

The reunion comes almost three decades after the original The Mummy was released in 1999.

The film followed Fraser's Rick O'Connell and Weisz's Evelyn Carnahan as they travelled to the lost city of Hamunaptra, accidentally awakening the cursed high priest Imhotep, played by Arnold Vosloo.

The film became a major box-office success, taking more than $409 million worldwide. Its 2001 sequel performed even better, bringing in more than $443 million globally.

Fraser returned for 2008's The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, although Weisz did not appear in the third instalment due to scheduling conflicts. Maria Bello took over the role of Evelyn.

The third film ended with Rick and Evelyn seemingly retiring from their adventures, but a discovery of mummies in Peru offered a possible hint at where the story could go next.

There are currently no official plot details for The Mummy 4, so it remains unclear whether the new film will pick up that storyline or take the characters in a different direction.

Fraser has been enthusiastic about returning to the franchise. During an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in May, he teased that the original team would be getting back together.

“Well, we’re gonna get the band back together — the only way to do it, right? So, we’re going to give the audience what they have been bothering all of us for for the last 20-whatever years,” he said.

He also hinted that the new film would revisit some locations associated with the original movies, while joking about getting back into action at the age of 57.

“However, I know that — please wish me luck. I’m doing my best to get this 57-year-old gear in shape,” he added.

Fraser had previously expressed interest in returning to the franchise in a 2022 interview with GQ, saying: “Absolutely ... that was great fun.”

Weisz has also spoken warmly about her time on the original films. In a 2023 interview with Net-a-Porter, she described The Mummy as beloved to her and praised the cast and chemistry behind the first film.

The returning cast will also include John Hannah, Oded Fehr and Kevin J. O’Connor, alongside newcomers Michael Johnston and Numan Acar.

Behind the camera, The Mummy 4 is being directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the filmmakers behind Ready or Not, Scream and Scream VI. David Coggeshall, whose previous work includes Prey and The Family Plan, is writing the screenplay.

The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 15, 2027, after its release date was moved forward from May 2028.
