The first trailer for the film, Wild Horse Nine, directed by Martin McDonagh, has arrived.
Directed by the Banshees of Inisherin director, Wild Horse Nine will also star Sam Rockwell, Tom Waites, Parker Posey and John Malkovich.
"Shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, CIA agents Chris (Malkovich) and Lee (Rockwell) are dispatched from Santiago to Easter Island by their bureau chief, MJ (Steve Buscemi)", an official synopsis for Wild Horse Nine reads.
"Amongst the Island's iconic statues, and as the longtime partners wrestle with their dark pasts and present conspiracies, Chris's newfound bond with a pair of rebellious students (Mariana di Girolamo and Ailín Salas) threatens to send everyone’s trip to this remote paradise sideways".
Wild Horse Nine will arrive in Irish cinemas on November 6, and is McDonagh's first film since he directed 2022's Banshees Of Inisherin.
Banshees Of Inisherin went on to win four BAFTA Awards in 2023, which saw McDonagh land the accolade for Best Original Screenplay, while Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon scoop up the Best Supporting Actor and Support Actress awards respectively.
However, the film did miss out on an Academy Award, despite several nominations.
Despite this, Martin McDonagh was full of praise for his cast.
"He’s so open to being broken, he’s so sensitive, and he’s so nuanced, both heart-breaking and funny all at the same time", he said. "His change from the first scene to the end is momentous so I’m not sure if I’ve seen that on screen before. He gets my vote",
"(Barry Keoghan) is incredible", McDonagh said. "I kind of studied his work, even though he's quite young, for seven or eight years. He's been doing brilliant, idiosyncratic things. I’m so glad his brilliant work in this has been recognised".
"Kerry (Condon) and I go back 22 years, even though she’s still very young. She was brilliant in a play of mine that…so I’ve always known how good she is, but I’m so glad that the whole world is getting to see that now". More on this here.
