Former Journey lead singer Steve Perry has teamed up with Willie Nelson to release a cover of Journey's hit, 'Faithfully'.
The new version of this track, which was originally released as part of Journey's 1983 album, 'Frontiers', was produced by Kent Wells and Steve Perry, with the latter engineering the track with Joel McKenne and Kyle Dickinson.
Others to feature on this cover include James Mitchell on electric guitar, Mike Rojas on piano, Scott Sanders on steel guitar, Kent Wells on acoustic guitar, Mickey Raphael on harmonica, Steve Mackay on bass, and Nir Z on drums.
This new cover was also recorded at Ronnie's Place in Nashville, Tennessee at Perry's Love Box studio, and was made available via Dark Horse Records.
"No one has a voice or vocal phrasing anything like Willie Nelson. Singing this duet with Willie has been something I've always wanted to do. After recording 'Faithfully' with JOURNEY, I always felt it would be a great song for Willie too. What a wonderful experience it was to finally sing with Willie. I'm so proud of what we have accomplished together", Perry said of this collaboration.
Nelson added: "Working with Steve Perry on 'Faithfully' was a meaningful experience. It was a pleasure to collaborate on this song. I'm proud that we could create something meaningful and use it to give back through Farm Aid".
All proceeds from this track will go towards the non profit Farm Aid organisation. Founded by Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp 40 years ago, Farm Aid helps the growing crisis faced by American family farmers during the 1980s.
