Oasis rocked the Croke Park stage last night as they returned to Ireland as part of their much talked about reunion tour.

The Gallagher brothers and co returned to perform in front of 80,000 fans at a sold out Croke Park, with Liam Gallagher telling the crowd that "It's good to be back" and "We need each other", as they opened up with Hello.

Prior to their live performance, Oasis' show was opened up by Richard Ashcroft, who stunned the audience by downing pint of Guinness, before closing out with classic The Verve hit, Bitter Sweet Symphony.

Greeting the fans, Liam Gallagher shouted: "Oasis vibes in the area. Dublin vibes in the area", and "We missed you, you lunatics!".

"I think I'm a Croke Park virgin! We haven't played here before, have we? All I do know is this is the soberest I've been in Ireland since I was about four or five or something like that", he then added.

"Is there anyone here from Mayo?"

Of course Oasis did not let the evening go by without giving a nod to their well known Irish roots.

Noel and Liam's mother Peggy, who was in the crowd, originally hails from Charlestown in Co Mayo, and Oasis dedicated their live showing of 'Roll With It' to their dear mother.

"Is there anyone here from Mayo, Charlestown?" Liam asked, before joking: "You're not all from there, there's only around five f****** people from there".  Liam also dedicated Stand By Me to Peggy, blowing kisses towards her as she sat in the upper tear.

Signing off, Liam cheekily remarked: "Right, Dublin, you've been the b*******. I have to go to bed like a little princess. Thanks for putting up with us. I know we're hard work", as Oasis finished things off with Champagne Supernova, following an encore of Don't Look Back In Anger, The Masterplan, and Wonderwall.

Ahead of their shows at Croke Park, Oasis bandmembers Paul Bonehead Arthurs and Joey Waronker took time out to enjoy the sunshine and have a big swim in the sea in Dublin. More on this from Nova here.

Oasis will be back to do it all again in Croker again tonight, in the second of two nights as part of the tour.
