Eagles' Don Henley has said that 2026 will "probably" be the final year for the band.

The founding member made these comments as the group continue to play their huge run of shows at Las Vegas' Sphere, as part of their mammoth 'The Long Goodbye' tour. Their residency is due to finish up in March.

Speaking of this residency, one of these shows saw the Eagles play live without Joe Walsh, for the first time in over 50 years, having joined the band in 1975.

“We had a choice to make,” Don Henley told the crowd. “We could either cancel the whole thing, or we could man up and do the show. So we came down here this afternoon and had an emergency rehearsal for two hours. And fortunately, in this band, we have a deep bench". More on this report from Nova here.

Speaking to CBS Sunday Morning, drummer Don Henley was asked about what's next for the band, to which he replied: “You know, I think this year will probably be it".

“And I’ve said things like that before, but I feel like we’re getting toward the end,” he added. “And that will be fine too".

Henley revealed that he is keen to spend more time with his family, and that he would like to “grow vegetables” and travel. “I’ve been all over the world, but I haven’t seen much of it, because we see the airports and the hotel room and the venue and we don’t get out much, you know?”.

The Eagles were formed in 1971 after Don Henley and Glen Frey had played together in Linda Rondstadt's backing band. They remained together until 1980, having reformed several times since. Hailed as one of the most successful bands of all time, Eagles have sold over 200 million albums worldwide.

In 1998, the band were inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame.

Last month, their 'Greatest Album' was quadruple diamond certified in the US, the first album to achieve this. The album  'Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975' was released by the band in 1976, and has now sold 40 million copies in the US. More on this from Nova here.
