Metallica played in front of a huge crowd in Finland on July 16 as part of their WorldWired tour.

According to the NME, the concert attracted almost one percent of the country’s population, an all-time record-breaking gig for the band.

The legendary metalheads performed at Kantola Event Park in the city of Hämeenlinna to 55,000 people.

Drawing out on the night, quite a few members of it’s 5.5 million people. According to Live Nation, Finland Metallica’s Hämeenlinna show was Kantola Event Park’s biggest audience ever!

It was also the band’s single biggest concert in the country. To celebrate this, for each audience member attending the concert, Metallica donated one euro to the Finnish Children’s charity Hope.

This gesture was a mark of appreciation to the fan’s who turned up in their thousands. The charity’s executive director stated via a report from the Yle Uutiset news site that the donation of nearly £50,000 (€55,000).

The generous gift will support 200 children in helping them to develop their hobbies for a full twelve months.

A video was released by Metallica thanking their Hämeenlinna fans for the record-breaking show.

It shows the stage being set up, audience arriving in with the venue filling up and also includes snippets of the band’s performance.
