A guitar from Guns N'Roses' famous Not In This Lifetime tour, has been sold for more than £230,000 at an auction in the UK.

The instrument, which was used by Slash during this tour in 2016, fetched for £233,100 at Propstore auction in London, as part of the Music Memorabilia Live Auction collection. This was reportedly one of the most expensive Slash guitars ever sold under the hammer.

The guitar itself is a '59 Custom Shop Guitar, autographed by Gibson Les Paul, and was one of 327 rare instruments, stage used pieces, handwritten lyrics and personal artefacts which were sold at this auction, achieving a grand total of £1.9 million.

Other items include a jacket worn by the late George Michael during the music video for his hit track, Faith in 1987, which sold for £176,400, a gold microphone which was presented to legendary rock band, Queen, sold for £151,200.

This was part of Peter Hince's Queen collection, with Hince remarking: "I'm absolutely thrilled with how the auction has turned out, especially seeing Freddie's gold microphone achieve such a strong price".

"It means a lot to know these pieces are going to fans who truly appreciate what Queen meant and still means today".

Other items that went under the hammer include a fedora worn by Michael Jackson in the 1987 Pepsi advert, which sold for £34,650, an autographed jacket worn by singer Ed Sheeran in his Shape of You music video, which went for £66,150, while an original proof print for the cover of David Bowie's album Aladdin Sane fetched for £34,650, and a Les Paul Custom 20th Anniversary guitar used and owned by Oasis's Noel Gallagher was sold for £34,650.

"truly exceptional results"

Speaking about this auction, Propstore's music specialist, Mark Hochman said it "delivered some truly exceptional results, with multiple records broken across the sale".

"The standout performance of Slash's stage-used Gibson Les Paul guitar, which set a new world record for Slash memorabilia, was a real highlight," he continued.

"The strength of the results and the level of engagement from collectors around the world during our Music Live Auction speak to the true enduring appeal of these iconic artists and the material connected to them."

This Not In This Life Time tour also saw Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan reunite on the stage as Guns N'Roses the first time since 1993.

Earlier this month, the band also shared a live cover of the track, 'Black Leather', an outtake from the Pistols' 1979, The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle soundtrack. More on this from Nova here.
