Last night, Florence + The Machine headlined Reading Festival for the first time, where their singer told the crowd to "put your phones the f*** away".
This happened as the band were performing the track, 'Dog Days Are Over' when Florence urged the crowd to join her in “a small ritual”, asking “every single person at this festival” to “put your phones the f*** away”, because “filming this song will stop you from experiencing this song, and is that not why you came?”, as reported in NME.
After performing the final chorus hit, the band were met with a huge round of applause from the audience.

Florence + The Machine had been performing on the festival's main stage, also known as The Grid at Little John's Farm, ahead of Chase & Status, another headliner.
This was the band's first performance at Reading since 2012, and also followed their headline set at Leeds last Friday, coinciding with Florence Pugh's birthday. It also brought the curtain down on their 'Everybody Scream' tour, which began with a run of UK and European shows in February, as well as shows in North America, before they returned for a run in Europe over the Summer festival season.
They also played Dublin's Marlay Park earlier this Summer in front of 40,000 fans.
Following performances of classics at Reading, ‘Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)’ and ‘You Got The Love’, Florence was joined on stage by IDLES's guitarist, Mark Bowen for 'One Of The Greats', a track the pair co wrote and recorded in a single take.
