Music streaming services Tidal and Apple Music have pledged their support for Neil Young, after Spotify agreed to remove his music.

Young had made this request after accusing Spotify of “spreading false information” about Covid vaccines and pandemic protocols.

The singer then asked Spotify to remove his material “immediately”.

I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them”, he wrote on his personal website. “Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule”. More on this here.

“always a good idea”

While his music may be unavailable to Spotify, Young’s material remains accessible to other streaming services. They have since taken the opportunity to promote his music on their sites.

Taking to Twitter, Apple Music reminded fans that “it’s always a good idea to stream @NeilYoungNYA”. They also added a link to their post and titled it ‘Neil Young Essentials’.

TIDAL also took to social media to promote Neil Young’s music. They took note of the new users on their platform.

They also retweeted a fan’s post that a playlist inspired by the singer’s music was trending on the platform. “Love that for us”, they added.

They also tweeted that they are noting the increase of new platform users, adding “Who all new here”.

Neil Young also recently shared two statements, revealing that his removal from Spotify will lead to a sixty per cent loss in his streaming income.

He admitted that this will be a “huge loss”, but the Country singer paid homage to his record label Warner/Reprise for “recognizing the threat [that] the COVID misinformation on Spotify posed to the world”.

He also stated, “Thank you Warner Brothers for standing with me and taking the hit – losing 60% of my world wide streaming income in the name of truth”.
