Bob Dylan has released a 50th Anniversary Collection CD from 1973, making it secretly available across several European record stores.

This CD was released across Europe, owing to copyright issues in the continent, which state that all sound recordings will be sent to the public domain, if they are not released 50 years after they were created.

The rule has also the tradition that artists will share studio rarities, in order to avoid them being made public.

This time around, Dylan has released this 28 track collection, which features studio outtakes which were taken from the 1973 Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid soundtrack sessions.

It also includes an alternative version of ‘Knockin On Heaven’s Door’, as well as several takes of tracks, ‘And He Killed Me Too’, ‘Billy Surrenders’, and ‘Final Theme’.

As expected this has been exciting news for Bob Dylan fans, with several people making bids of over $500 for the CD via eBay.

When the copyright deadline for Dylan’s first three electric albums was getting close, the musician’s team combined the three LPS into a boxset.

The three CDs in question were ‘Bringing It All Back Home’, ‘Highway 61 Revisited’ and ‘Blonde On Blonde’.

Dylan also pressed a small batch of these CDs, before sending them to many record shops across the EU, with no notice, in order to technically avoid breaking any rules.

Earlier this year, Bob Dylan also released his live album ‘Shadow Kingdom’. See more on this from Nova here.
