A number of media organisations in Ireland have been evacuated this morning after receiving bomb threats.

Several Dublin newsrooms, including RTÉ, Newstalk, Virgin Media Television and the Irish Independent, were affected after emails containing alleged threats were circulated to media outlets in Ireland and the UK.

Gardaí are currently at RTÉ's Donnybrook headquarters, where a heavy security presence has been reported. Armed response Gardaí are also attending the scene.

The security alert has disrupted RTÉ Radio 1's morning schedule, with Today with David McCullagh replaced by a pre-recorded music programme. The show had been due to begin at 9am.

Staff at Newstalk's offices and Virgin Media Television in Ballymount have also been evacuated as a precaution.

The threats appear to have been sent to multiple media organisations, with outlets in the UK also reportedly receiving identical emails.

The latest incidents follow several bomb threats made against airlines in recent days.
