Brian May has shared an exciting update regarding the upcoming remastered Queen album, Queen II.
The guitarist has been teasing fans about the release on social media, with the newly remastered album to arrive on March 27.
Having previously shared a clip of himself holding an unopened box set, May has now been showing fans footage from inside the iconic Abbey Road Studios. The musician shared a clip on Instagram sideways, advising fans to turn the phone on its side to watch it.
"A Day in my Life at ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS, London, England", he wrote. "We're rebuilding and remixing our QUEEN II album in Dolby Atmos --- basically the kind of surround sound you hear in movie theatres. I've wanted to do this for the last 53 years !!! This new version will be streamed first, then released as a dedicated Blu-ray. The performances are all exactly as we played them all those years ago - in one of our most explosively creative periods - but the SOUNDS !!! --- are what we always dreamed of. Get your Dolby Atmos hi-fi system now !!".
Elsewhere, Brian May also explained while walking through the corridors, the reason why he was in the Abbey Road Studios, saying that they did not have the facilities to create what they wanted when they were recording over a century earlier.
He said: "I love Abbey Road...It kind of carries its history with it so you see the past as well as the future here and the present day, [it] embraces all this lovely old machinery, all the analogue stuff that we used to use. We didn't actually record in here, as Queen that is, I've recorded here with other people like Cliff Richard and stuff, which is really great, and with The Crickets - a number of things".
"This is a great place, and today we are remixing Queen Two in Dolby Atmos, which is quite something. This was 53 years ago, we recorded this album, and it always needed this treatment. We didn't have the technology to achieve what we really wanted in those days. Now we do".
"I can't wait for people to hear this Dolby Atmos mix, which is just all around you, stuff happening", he added.
May then went onto share a second clip, showing fans what to expect from this album.
"I'm not giving anything away," he insisted in the caption. "Except an iPhone stereophonic rendition of a work-in-progress Dolby Atmos (surround) rebuild of PROCESSION - the opening track on our 1973 Queen II album".
"Hold the phone on its side and put your nose close to the screen. Half-close your eyes and turn the volume up full. And, just like that, you are with me today in Abbey Road studios revisiting a pivotal QUEEN recording".
"I'm inviting you in because I want you to be as excited as I am when this becomes available for streaming very soon, and when the Dolby Atmos Blu-Ray comes out !!! It will sound about 50 times better than this!".
"The glory of working Analogue to Digital is that we were able to reach back to the individual multiple guitar tracks and place them all around the room. So you will be effectively sitting inside the guitar "orchestra" when you hear this in Dolby Atmos. QUEEN II - like you never heard it before !!!".
