A driver of a Range Rover who parked on the footpath of one of Dublin’s busiest streets had their car seized for their trouble.
Motorists will try any auld excuse when it comes to illegally parking — they were only going to the shop, they were parked there for 30 seconds, or anything that comes to mind.
However, some people just take it that one bit too far: case in point, this driver who parked on the busy pedestrian crossing at St Stephen’s Green, right at the top of Grafton Street in Dublin.
There are absolutely zero indications that the pedestrian crossing is, has been, or ever will be a parking space, but the motorist of the red jeep chanced their luck – where saw them immediately caught out by Pearse Street Gardaí.
From there, it emerged that the driver, who was a novice, wasn’t displaying N-plates and had no insurance.
As a result, the car was towed.

‘Legit parking spot? Pearse St Gardaí spotted a car parked on the footpath, blocking a busy pedestrian crossing,’ Gardaí wrote on Twitter (X).
