Cillian Murphy is set to return to one of modern horror’s biggest franchises, with Jack O'Connell officially joining him in the cast of A Quiet Place Part III.
The announcement was made by writer and director John Krasinski, who confirmed a stacked ensemble for what is widely expected to be the final chapter in the series.
Krasinski revealed the news via social media, sharing an image of seven scripts bearing the names of each cast member.
Returning stars include Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, alongside Murphy, who first joined the franchise in the second instalment.
New additions include O’Connell, Jason Clarke and Katy O'Brian. “So proud to be a part of this A Quiet Place family… old and new! Here we go!” Krasinski wrote, pairing the post with One Last Time from Hamilton, hinting this could be the trilogy’s final outing.
Paramount has confirmed the film will be released on July 30, 2027, with production set to begin this spring in New York City.
Krasinski will once again write, direct and produce, alongside Allyson Seeger, while Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form return under the Platinum Dunes banner.
The scale of anticipation around the third film reflects just how successful the franchise has been to date.
The original A Quiet Place was a breakout hit, grossing over $340 million worldwide on a modest $17 million budget, while earning widespread critical acclaim for its innovative use of sound and tension.
Its sequel, A Quiet Place Part II, followed with another strong performance, taking in nearly $300 million globally despite being released during the pandemic .
In fact, it was widely seen as a key film in bringing audiences back to cinemas, delivering one of the biggest opening weekends of that era and becoming the first pandemic-era film to cross the $100 million mark in the US .
The franchise has since expanded further with A Quiet Place: Day One, starring Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn, which added another $260 million-plus at the global box office.
Altogether, the series has generated close to $900 million worldwide, cementing it as one of the most successful modern horror franchises.
Murphy’s return is particularly notable given his rising profile following Oppenheimer, which has further elevated his global star power.
His character, introduced in Part II, helped broaden the story beyond the central family, suggesting the third instalment could continue expanding the world and stakes of the narrative.
O’Connell, meanwhile, continues a strong run in the genre.
The actor has recently starred in Sinners, which picked up multiple Oscars, and has also appeared in the 28 Years Later series, including The Bone Temple.
His casting signals that the new film may lean further into ensemble storytelling, rather than focusing solely on the Abbott family.
Clarke and O’Brian also arrive with significant recent credits.
Clarke has worked again with Kathryn Bigelow on A House of Dynamite, while O’Brian has gained recognition for roles in Love Lies Bleeding, Twisters and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
First launched in 2018, A Quiet Place quickly distinguished itself with its stripped-back premise—a family forced to live in near-total silence in a world overrun by creatures that hunt by sound.
With a proven box office track record, a returning core cast and a wave of high-profile new additions, A Quiet Place Part III is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of the coming years.
And if Krasinski’s hint is anything to go by, it won’t just continue the story—it will bring it to a definitive and highly anticipated close.
