Earlier this year, Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl opened up about attending therapy sessions ahead of the band's album release.
The singer revealed that he has "been in therapy six days a week for 70 weeks", which amounts to 430 sessions, in the aftermath of the shock announcement that he fathered a child outside of his marriage to Jordan Blum.
Grohl remained coy on whether or not this admission was the reason for his decision to undergo therapy in the first place.
“There were so many things that led me to this therapy", the singer said. Such reasons could also be the death of his friend and bandmate Taylor Hawkins in March 2022, and the death of his mother, Virginia in August of that same year.
Referring to the band's new album, 'Your Favourite Toy', Grohl continued: “I have to be perfectly honest. Writing songs and writing lyrics about these things is sometimes enough".
“As far as having a deeper, longer conversation about them, I still do reserve a lot of this for my own personal life, as impersonal and public as it may seem,” he said. “But I think that for many reasons, I wound up in a place that I needed to stop and sit with myself and re-evaluate myself. It’s an ongoing process".
Earlier this year, Dave Grohl and co surprised fans with a live show at The Academy in Dublin to promote their album.

Dave Grohl went on explain how he dealt with the aftermath after confirming on social media about his extramarital affair.
“I had to turn everything off, one of those things being my concern for what other people think,” he said. “Being able to shut off that part of yourself can be sometimes a very healthy exercise in considering life within your immediate radius. Not giving all of that so much currency within yourself that it can completely destroy yourself".
He also recalled years where he was “so overly ambitious” in his career and ultimately spread himself “so thin".
“And so I look back and I’m like, God, what was I trying to prove? There is such a thing as addiction to achievement, and it’s dangerous,” said Grohl, who would commit himself to work and feel “good for 24 hours” before “that feeling immediately goes away".
“And there’s that hole again, there’s that emptiness, and you’re like, s---, I need to fill it up with something else,” he said.
However, the singer does not think that this was what led him to being unfaithful in his marriage.
“No. I think that’s how I ended up overextending myself and getting lost,” he said. “I wasn’t sitting with myself and really letting [feelings] go from my head into my heart. Getting to the point where I was just like, I need to stop, turn everything off and find my heart".
Speaking ahead of the release of 'Your Favourite Toy', which arrived last month, Grohl encouraged fans to look deeply into the lyrics. He also did not disclose if he had earned back the trust of his wife and family.
“I think they speak volumes,” he said. “Maybe more than I can speak right now".
In more recent news, Dave Grohl showed off his strong knowledge of music history in a new episode of Track Star. More on this from Nova here.
