Dublin is expected to experience significant traffic disruption next week as the largest policing operation in the history of the State gets under way for Ireland's EU Presidency.
Around 50 European leaders are due to travel to the capital for meetings of the European Political Community at the Convention Centre on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 November.
However, the security operation will begin two days earlier, on Tuesday 10 November, with motorists and public transport users warned to expect major delays over four days.
The meetings will take place at several locations across the city, with a dinner for visiting leaders also scheduled at the National Gallery on Merrion Square on Thursday evening.
Gardaí have described the operation as unprecedented due to the scale and complexity of the events, which will bring together one of the largest gatherings of international leaders ever hosted in Ireland.
The security arrangements will affect people living, working and studying in the areas around the Convention Centre, the National Gallery and several city hotels.
Restrictions will also be in place along routes connecting Dublin Airport and Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnell.
Road closures, public transport diversions and traffic delays are expected throughout the operation.
Dublin City Council has warned anyone travelling to Dublin city, Dublin Airport or Dublin Port between Tuesday and Friday to expect "major and prolonged traffic disruption".
Gardaí are advising people to allow extra time for their journeys, check public transport information before travelling and monitor social media for updates.
In a statement, An Garda Síochána said it had been involved in "intense and extensive planning" with local authorities and transport providers in recent weeks.
The force said it would work to minimise restrictions and disruption wherever possible, but confirmed that changes to traffic management, traffic flows and public transport would be unavoidable, particularly in Dublin city centre.
Members of the public are being asked to follow instructions from gardaí throughout the four-day operation.
