€592,000 Worth Of Drugs Seized Following A Cork Operation

A man in his 30s has been charged after Gardaí seized almost €600,000 worth of suspected drugs during a search operation in Co Cork.

The joint operation, carried out on Thursday, involved officers from the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit and the Cork County North East Divisional Drugs Unit. Gardaí initially searched a business premises in Cobh before carrying out a number of follow-up searches at a separate location in Cork city.

During the searches, officers recovered suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of €484,000 and suspected cannabis valued at approximately €108,000, bringing the total estimated value of the seizure to €592,000.

The man was arrested in connection with the operation and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 before being formally charged.

He is due to appear before a special sitting of Cork District Court at Anglesea Street at approximately 1.30pm today.

Gardaí said all of the suspected drugs will undergo forensic analysis as investigations into the case continue.
