Eddie Vedder has said that Pearl Jam are taking their first steps into a new era without Matt Cameron.
This comes after Cameron had announced his departure from the band in July last year, ending a 27 year tenure of a Pearl Jam line up which include original members, Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament and Mike McCready.
Confirming the news on social media at the time, Matt Cameron paid homage to his bandmates, staff and fans from all around the world, describing his time with the band as an "incredible journey".
Later, Cameron did insist that he had no plans to retire despite his departure from Pearl Jam.
"Thank you for the kind words of support and for the record, I'm still an active musician", Cameron wrote. More here.
Now, speaking to Rolling Stone, Eddie Vedder has revealed that the band are back together again and are "excited for the future".
Quoting an unnamed commentator, Vedder said: "The quote was, I think, ‘Pearl Jam is in between eras at the moment. And I thought that was actually pretty concise."
"We're in the lab, we’re woodshedding, excited," he continues. "It’s cool to think of change. As much as we'd like to have done it the way we did it forever - and we'll still be able to do that thing - I think we’re all just excited for the future".
Regarding Cameron's replacement, Eddie Vedder remained coy when it came to sharing details.
"If I were to say anything, I think we'd wanna have a band discussion about what we’d wanna say or who would be the messenger or whatever", he said.
Vedder's comments come as Netflix currently stream his documentary, Matter Of Time, which is based on the singer's life.
"Set against the emotional backdrop of Eddie Vedder’s 2023 benefit concerts in Seattle, Matter of Time tells the extraordinary true story of families, scientists, and changemakers uniting to cure Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a devastating rare genetic skin disorder", a synopsis for the show reads.
"Through powerful performances, scientific breakthroughs, and the courage of the EB community, this moving documentary shows how love, advocacy, and creativity can ignite a revolution in rare disease research".
