Fontaines D.C won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize for Album Of The Year.

The band scooped up this award for their album, Romance, at an awards ceremony which took place at Vicar Street, Dublin.

This was announced by last year's winner, Neil Hannon, and was selected by a judging panel comprising of Irish music media professionals, and chaired by Jim Carroll, Choice Music Prize co-founder.

Fontaines D.C who have now won the award four times, won a cheque for €10,000, which was provided by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA), along with a specially commissioned award. The panel also included our very own Dee Woods.

Other big winners on the night were Belfast trio Kneecap, who won Irish Breakthrough Artist of the Year, with Irish hip hop group Kabin Crew winning Song of the Year with their track, Spark, while singer Jordan Adetunji won Artist of the Year.

The RTÉ Choice Music Prize celebrates the best that Irish recorded music has to offer, becoming one of the highlights of the year for the music industry, since it began in 2005.

Back in December, a trailer for 'Borderlands 4', the much anticipated video game, was released, featuring a soundtrack from Fontaines D.C. Check it out and Nova's report here.
