German Doner Kebab is officially coming to Ireland, with the brand set to open its first Irish restaurant at Liffey Valley Shopping Centre on Monday, 1 December.

To mark the launch, the chain will give away free food and exclusive merch, with 100 customers per day receiving a free kebab and limited-edition tote bags during the restaurant’s opening week.

The global quick-service brand, known for its modern take on the classic kebab, says it’s aiming to “redefine” the experience for Irish diners. With a strong following across the UK, Europe and North America, GDK pitches itself squarely at Gen Z – leaning into music, sport and pop culture while offering food designed to fit busy daily routines, from post-gym meals to quick lunches or late-evening bites.
The menu centres on freshly grilled lean meats, toasted waffle bread and handmade sauces, with popular items including the OG Kebab, the Boss Box, and the brand’s signature Doner Boxes loaded with seasoned meats, crisp salad and their well-known sauces. Each order is made fresh, something the brand says appeals to younger customers looking for convenience without compromising on quality.

GDK’s expansion has been rapid, with more than 170 locations already operating worldwide. As the company marks its 150th UK opening in Leeds, Ireland is now its next major focus, with plans for up to 30 stores across the country in the coming years.
GDK CEO Simon Wallis said the Liffey Valley opening represents a “fresh energy” for Ireland’s fast-casual food scene, adding that the location captures “Dublin’s vibrant culture and community spirit”.
Rickey Sharma, Director of The Strava Group, which is operating the Irish arm of the brand, said the launch marks “an exciting new chapter”, confirming that 40 staff have been hired for the first store, with 150 jobs expected nationwide over the next year.
The team says this is only the start of GDK’s long-term plans for Ireland, promising a flavour-packed, modern kebab experience for Dubliners — and soon, the rest of the country.
