Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has said that he would interested in collaborating with Olivia Rodrigo one day.

In a fresh interview, the singer made these comments ahead of the upcoming release of the band’s new album ‘Saviors’.

Armstrong also spoke about the similarities between this album and Green Day’s spectacular release of American Idiot in 2004., which also saw him speak about artists of a theatrical background, including Olivia Rodrigo.

On a possible collaboration with Rodrigo, Armstrong remarked, “I hear it but don’t go out buying any of those records or stream it. It does pass me by. When I hear it, I think it sounds good”.

“I think it would be fun to work with her sometime. She’s talented”.

He also added, “Sometimes you can see how someone is interested in what punk rock is and maybe they don’t quite have some of the influences or knowledge that I have on the history of punk rock. I’m kind of an encyclopedia. To do something with someone like Olivia Rodrigo would be fun”.

Armstrong and a “large batch of songs”

Elsewhere, Billie Joe Armstrong spoke about comparisons between Saviors and classic Green Day albums like American Idiot and Dookie.

“We had a large batch of songs that we recorded in London and when we saw it come together, I remembered thinking, Oh, this is the connection,” stated Armstrong.

”Saviors’ does feel like a trifecta with ‘Dookie’ and ‘American Idiot’ where it feels like a life’s work. I went from not knowing what the hell I was doing to going, “Oh gosh, we managed to bridge the gap between those two huge albums”.

This chat also saw Billie Joe Armstrong reveal that he had previous battles with alcohol addiction. The singer even admitted struggling with this addiction during the band’s Hella Mega Tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy.

He explained, “When I was on the Hella Mega tour, I started to struggle with alcohol when we were in Europe. It was all fun and games”.

“The only thing alcohol was doing for me was getting in the way of the things I wanted to do and the person I wanted to be”.

Earlier this month, Green Day released a new single ‘One Eyed Bastard’, which will also feature on this album. Check that out here.
