Last Thursday night (December 10th) at the BBC Music Awards, Hozier won an award for Best Song. His smash hit single ‘Take Me To Church’ won the award last night in Birmingham

Hozier was part of quite an impressive list of nominees for Best Song. It included Ed Sheeran ‘Bloodstream’, Ellie Goulding ‘Love Me Like You  Do’, Jason Derulo ‘Want to Want Me’, Jess Glynne ‘Hold My Hand’, Major Lazer & DJ Snake feat. MØ ‘Lean On’, Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars ‘Uptown Funk’, OMI ‘Cheerleader – Felix Jaehn Remix’, The Weeknd ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ and Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth ‘See You Again’.

When he was accepting the award he said had not been expecting to win as he was up against “absolute juggernauts” with “amazing songs”. To be among them was an honour and to win was a real shock.

Hozier also performed a special version of ‘Take Me To Church’ on the night which was backed by a full orchestra. Aswell as the recent BBC Music Award for Best Song he has recently enjoyed many other award successes in 2015, winning Billboard, Teen Choice and European Border Breakers honours and receiving American Music, Grammy and MTV nominations.
