Jack Osbourne has shed light on the amount of money raised by Black Sabbath's 'Back To The Beginning' concert.
This show took place at Villa Park, Birmingham last July, Black Sabbath's final ever show, which has become even more poignant after frontman Ozzy Osbourne passed away three weeks later aged 76.
Following the concert, Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, who was the musical director, said that the show raised over $190 million, which would be split between Cure Parkinson's, Acorns Children Hospital, and Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Now, Ozzy Osbourne's son Jack has dismissed Morello's claims regarding the money raised from the show.
“The number was complete bullshit,” Jack Osbourne said.
“This is how you know the news is probably 90% bullshit, ’cause it was, like, CNN and New York Times was saying ‘Ozzy raised $150 million.’ And it wasn’t that,” he continued. “Because it was a charity gig, you still have to pay for the actual gig. No bands got paid, and most of the crew donated their time. But I think when all said and done, each charity got, like, one and a half or two million pounds each".
“So, it was, I think, six or seven million pounds. That’s what was donated to the three charities. I mean, we would’ve loved it if it was hundreds of millions. We would have been, like, ‘F*** yeah".
At the time, Ozzy's wife Sharon quickly distanced herself from the number, calling it "ridiculous", adding: "Where does this stuff come from?".
Last week, Jack Osbourne had claimed that a "phenomenal actor" has been cast to play his late father in a new biopic about the singer. The film is set to be written by Oscar nominee Lee Hall, as well as being developed by Sony Pictures and Polygram Entertainment.
“We are in full steam in the next phase of development with this movie,” he said. “That’s an acted movie that we’ve been developing with Sony studios for, like, six years already".
Asked about who will play the great man, Jack added: “We have our decided pick, and I can’t say anything [yet], but it’s a phenomenal, phenomenal actor", adding: “We have a director attached, and we’re doing a rewrite right now".
When asked if his father would approve, Jack added: “Oh, he would. I’d give him updates: ‘Oh, we met with this guy’ and ‘This is happening’". More on this from Nova here.
