Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood has revealed which song from the band he would have liked to change.
The band's guitarist spoke about this in a recent interview with Mojo Magazine, where he revealed that he had pushed for Radiohead's 'House of Cards' to have a bigger punk arrangement during the recording process.
“There are songs I feel like we could have better arrangements for, but everyone else seems to like. I was convinced that ‘House of Cards’ should sound like an Iggy Pop track", Greenwood stated.
However, Greenwood has said that he is now glad the song turned out the way it did, saying: “But I can accept that it would probably have killed something beautiful and tender".
The interview also saw Greenwood speak about Radiohead's return to touring, which he has described as "incredible".
Last year, the band returned to the touring stage, marking their first live shows in seven years, which began across Europe at the end of last year, as well as a four night residency at London's 02.
He said: “You hear of other bands getting together and having multiple managers and multiple sound people. We seem very blessed".
The musician added that he missed making new music with the band.
News of this comes as Greenwood's bandmate, Ed O'Brien had revealed that Radiohead will be playing 20 shows each on a different continent from 2027.
“What we’re going to do is, every year we’re going to do a different continent, and we’re going to do 20 shows each year. No more, no less,” O'Brien said. “We won’t do anything this year, but we’ll do something next year".
O'Brien also explained why they are limiting this run to just 20 shows per continent.
“We want to give absolutely everything each night. We do not ever want it to be like we’re going through the motions or we’re having to run on empty. We’ve got to be able to do it. And you know what? We’re not spring chickens anymore", he said. More on this from Nova here.
Back in February, Jonny Greenwood said that he wanted his music removed from Amazon's documentary about Melania Trump. The song in question was written by Greenwood for Paul Thomas Anderson's 2017 film, Phantom Thread.
It was reported that neither Greenwood nor Anderson were consulted before this documentary was released.
“It has come to our attention that a piece of music from Phantom Thread has been used in the Melania documentary. While Jonny Greenwood does not own the copyright in the score, Universal failed to consult Jonny on this third-party use which is a breach of his composer agreement. As a result Jonny and Paul Thomas Anderson have asked for it to be removed from the documentary", a statement read. More on this story from Nova here.
