The metal legends have hit the studio to start working on Judas Priest’s 19th studio album. Guitarist Richie Faulkner revealed the awesome news on Twitter on the 3rd February.

According to Planet Rock, Faulkner shared a photo Rob Halford and Glenn Tipton in the studio and wrote:

“Giving birth to new metal babies. #judaspriest writing sessions 2020 with grand master Tipton and the Mg RHRF DOTF #forgingthesteel”

Speaking to Australia’s May The Rock Be With You last year, frontman Rob Halford confirmed that a new Judas Priest record is ‘definitely’ on the way.

Rob said they wanted to keep the momentum going after stellar reception of their last long-play drop, ‘Firepower’.

“All this incredible acclaim, critical acclaim and from our fans, it’s a boost more than anything else, It gives us the inspiration, the motivation, to keep going into the ‘metal future’ as we call it. We’re very grateful.”

Axeman Glenn Tipton had to stand back from touring as a result of suffering Parkinson’s disease in February of 2018.

However, he has made many appearances on the Firepower Tour and he’s still an active band member in terms of recording.

Judas Priest will play a 50 Heavy Metal Years anniversary show when they headline Bloodstock Open Air in Catton Park, Derbyshire on Sunday 9th August 2020.
