Kings of Leon have teased the imminent release of a new song called ‘Must The Catch Bandit’ on social media.

The band last released an album in 2016 with the record ‘Walls’. With the new snippet of music posted online, 2021 should see the band release a new album.

Bassist Jared Followill took to Twitter to reveal the new music. Blame it on the holiday “cheer”, but I just feel like sharing. @kingsofleon tweeted “the w8 is nearly over” TEN MONTHS ago. Enough. If you were promised new Kings music in 2 weeks, would you forgive us? Could you?”

In a follow up Tweet, he attempted to share the video but it appeared as a link. Drummer Nathan Followill came to the rescue and said “Big brother fixed it for you“. You can check out the snippet of new music below.

Kings of Leon have had no official releases in four years but the band did share a live recording of a new song called ‘Going Nowhere’ in March of this year. You can check it out here.

It was recorded in their home town of Nashville and only featured frontman Caleb Followill and an acoustic guitar.

Writing on their YouTube channel, the band said “Stay safe. Stay home. We will see you as soon as we can.” It was a poignant song at the time when the pandemic had began to shut the world down. Followill sings “I’m going nowhere, if you get the time/I’m going nowhere, with you on my mind.”

Kings of Leon were due to tour Europe this summer including a show at Dublin’s R.D.S. but it was cancelled due to the pandemic. A new date has not been confirmed yet but the band have rescheduled some 2020 concerts for 2021 including Southside Festival in Germany and many others.
