Well since then, due to the demand, we at Nova have now taken those 50 Irish tracks, and made them into a huge Spotify playlist that you can now check out.

Zombie Voted The Best By Radio Nova

As it turned out, it was The Cranberries’ 1993 hit Zombie, which was voted as The Greatest Irish Song Ever, by Nova listeners.

The track saw off stiff competition to win this, from fellow Irish icons including Sineád O’Connor, Aslan, U2, Phil Lynott and more.

This track was also written by the late Cranberries singer Dolores O’Rirodan, and has also surpassed one billion streams on the streaming service already.

Other hits featuring in this playlist also include ‘Where The Streets Have No Name’ from U2, Sinead O’Connor’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’, ‘Dancing In The Moonlight’ by Thin Lizzy, Phil Lynott’s ‘Old Town’, ‘A Rainy Night In Soho’ by the Pogues, Snow Patrol’s ‘Chasing Cars’, along with ‘Crazy World’ by Aslan, to name a few.

Zombie was one of two Cranberries tracks to feature in the top 10 of this top 50 list, with Dreams coming in at number 8 overall.

You may have even belted this track out while watching the Boys in Green at last year’s Rugby World Cup in Paris!

Thanks again to those who voted over the weekend!!
