Grooooan. It’s happening again.
The words Led, Zeppelin and Reunion are popping up all over the shop.
When? Next year!! Glastonbury maybe.. or Croker or the Roisin Dubh Galway.. who knows!?
Remember the last time Zepp really did happen? The O2, London, 2007.
Twenty thousand tickets were made available, over one million people scrambled for one.. We were not supposed to witness such a spectacle in the 21st century.
Here’s the latest.
Guitarist and long time holder of the Zepp flame, Jimmy Page really seems to want to get back on the road. He’s just steered the latest re-masters of albums I, II and III our way, to remind people what a “f**king good band” they were. It is, he says, a celebration of what the band achieved, and also an opportunity to introduce a new generation of music fans to the songs.
Would he play Glastonbury 2015? The fans would like that, to which Jimmy says, “I agree with them, it’s good music isn’t it. Maybe I could just go out on my own then and call myself Led Zeppelin”
John Paul Jones, bass and keys is happy out whatever, be it working on his opera or doing a bit ‘Custard Pie’.
The late John Bonham’s son, Jason, has proven himself willing and more than able to perch on a drum riser.
Then we’re left with Robert. The voice of the mighty mothership. Time and time again, Robert has said, leave it alone, it’s been done, I’ve moved on.. But a breath later he smiles, winks and suggests maybe “2014”!
I suppose it is only July. We could get one hell of a Christmas present!
I hear these rumours, like you, every other week. I normally roll my eyes and say “wishful thinking”. But here’s the thing..
Say there was a person who was in the Zepp camp all those years ago. Who is still connected? Say THEY suggested that maybe, just maybe, things ARE heating up and that 2015/16 COULD actually be a LZ thing?
More hot air? Personally, I hope not! At the same time. I won’t hold my breath. Will you?
