The soundtrack for 'Marty Supreme' is to get a special vinyl release.
The track is from the film of the same name, starring Golden Globe winner Timothée Chalamet as driven table tennis player, Marty Mauser, featuring Gwyneth Paltrow and Odessa A'zion and directed by Josh Safdie.
The packaging for this vinyl release, has been designed by Special Forces in collaboration with the soundtrack's original composer, Daniel Lopatin. It will feature a Japanese obi strip and a double-sided poster.
While the soundtrack itself has been available since last year, the vinyl release has been made available in a 2 LP set with black and clear vinyl. You can pre order it via this link here.
On the soundtrack, Lopatin said: “The music came from an obsession with rhythm, buoyancy, and motion—compiling hundreds of mallet and bell sounds to mirror Marty’s mercurial, fast, and kinetic nature, which is like a table tennis ball itself".
“I wanted the score to live between tradition and invention, with neoclassical elements grounding the world around him as he finds it with rules, limits, and pressure. The electronic textures lean into the future he imagines, even as those forces begin to contend with each other".
Among the tracks featuring in the soundtrack itself is Peter Gabriel's 'I Have The Touch'. Although it is not on this score's release.
Meanwhile, a new behind-the-scenes segment of the making of this score was shared online. Check it out below.
At the weekend, Timothée scooped up a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Film for his role in Marty Supreme.
Accepting the award, the actor said that it tasted "that much sweeter", having missed out on the award, despite being nominated on four previous occasions. Previously, Chalamet was nominated for a Golden Globe for Call Me By Your Name, Beautiful Boy, Wonka, as well as last year's nomination for Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown.
However, this time, the actor emerged victorious, despite stiff competition from Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney to name a few.
"My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up: ‘Always be grateful for what you have,'” he told the crowd. “It’s allowed me to leave the ceremony in the past empty-handed with my head held high, grateful just to be here".
He added: “Josh Safdie, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for this role. Thank you for believing in me. To A24 and Ronnie Bronstein, who co-wrote this with Josh, the amazing cast of this film. If you would have told me when I was 19 years old that I would be thanking Mr. Wonderful from Shark Tank…”.
